coffee & tea & board games
Hello loyal readers. In a shocking turn of events, I currently find myself at the Boston airport, waiting out yet another delayed flight. I'm watching the Astros on my iPad but the WiFi is slow and my feed is behind. I ate way too much overpriced food at the extraordinarily mediocre airport restaurant/bar (options are slim here in terminal B) and now I deeply regret it. And it's miserably cold in here. I realize these are the first worldiest of problems and I don't expect you to have any sympathy for me. Let's move on.
It has been far too long since I’ve discussed coffee. There is a coffee shop in the Heights, 3.4 miles from my place of residence, that has been open since March, and I only got around to visiting last week. I am so ashamed. I have failed you all. Being such a prominent influencer in the Houston coffee scene, I know you have been eagerly awaiting my detailed review and opinion of Tea + Victory since day one.
Tea + Victory is a "board game cafe," which is exactly what it sounds like. For $5, you can play as many of their board games as you want (and there are a LOT), or you can bring your own. There is also a small selection of board games for sale. Seating is plentiful...@_reezydoesit and I opted to sit at the bar, for optimal #basic picture opportunities, of course, but throughout the cafe was a variety of people working on laptops (good WiFi situation) and playing games with friends (that apparently involved a lot of yelling).
Due to the excessive amount of coffee I had already consumed that day, I went for a chai tea latte instead, and was not disappointed (don't worry - plenty of coffee beverages are available). Royce ordered something called nitro tea, and OMG Y'ALL IT WAS SO GOOD. HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS WAS A THING BEFORE!? There is also a decent beer selection (mostly local), hence the taps on that super pretty wall. I ordered some "healthy" food (pictured). It was good, but if we're being totally honest I seriously considered ordering the bowl of gummi bears and gummi worms, which is an actual menu item here. Also shoutout to the super nice baristas who weren't too judgy when we took these #basic pics.
Okay so we didn't actually play any board games. I'm a huge fan of board games, and I would love to come back with some friends and organize a game night (it stays open late most nights), but this was not that day. I needed to show y'all this wall though, so here's a completely candid shot of me playing on my phone alone at this table, sans any food or beverage. As one does. Totally casual.
I kid. I have to make fun of myself a little bit when I get this embarrassingly basic. Y'all should check out Tea + Victory though.
