houston mural adventures, part one
Remember that time the temperature dropped below 40 degrees and every school and workplace in the city of Houston shut down and we all "worked from home?" Yeah...that was today (okay, it was Tuesday, but it took me a while to finish this post). It was fun for approximately 23 seconds until I remembered that (a) I have a ton of actual work to get done and (b) I am truly an extrovert at heart and will very quickly go insane if don't interact with another human. So after 14 hours of "working," (i.e., yelling at my computer in frustration, yelling at Alexa, sending pointless Snapchats to everyone I know, standing on my balcony staring at the "snow," and attempting to create actual meals from the random items I currently have in my fridge) I have finally shut down my work laptop. I now sit on my couch in my llama pajamas and fuzzy socks, drinking my go-to wine (two-buck Chuck Cabernet Sauvignon...and people say I'm pretentious...), watching Bob's Burgers, and reminiscing about a time when it was a temperature outside that I own the appropriate clothing for (aka three days ago, when the majority of these pictures were taken).
Today, instead of coffee or food or ramblings about the Astros, I bring you Part One of Liz's Guide to Murals and Other Fun Places to Take Pictures for Social Media in Houston. I'll work on a snappier title.
The Most Obvious One.
The Ones in Eado.
I have finally given in and embraced the nickname "Eado." Also, is this two square block area of semi-sketchy buildings covered in interesting artwork something that everyone except me already knew about?! Because I had no idea this was here!

The Other Really Famous One.
Figuring out how to get to these is part of the experience. They are located at the end of Edwards St. (just search 'American Statesmanship Park' on Google Maps).
If you haven't seen the president heads (also from David Adickes) that reside next to I-45 just north of downtown, do you even live in Houston?
Fun fact, David Adickes also created GIANT abstract looking statues of the Beatles, which have recently relocated to 8th Wonder Brewery.

FM Burger
This restaurant/bar is one of my favorites in Houston for its excellent burgers, fun drinks, and huge patio with games (when the weather is nice)...and colorful walls! Stay tuned for a future post about the food here, but for now here is me and my friends taking "band pics" in front of the murals.
This One's Not Even Done
...but it just makes me so happy! The artist was actually spray painting as we were taking this picture.
